Vickey started us out on this PFCC challenge with a saxophone from Wikipedia Commons. I got my image started a little late, and a lot of the ideas I had were already used by other members. So, I gathered up all the music related stock images (Pixabay, AdobeStock, and the Epson CreativeZone) I could find on my computer and started a background, and began blending, using different modes on each layer. I was actually going for a purple and orange theme because I thought orange and purple would look pretty good with the gold of the original saxophone. Well, that didn't quite cut it, so I had to figure out something to put the saxophone on or in because it didn't look great on the background that I had – it is blended in a little too well.
So some more scrounging to see what kind of templates that I had that would support a saxophone. I ended up with this T-shirt from AdobeStock. I added bigger musical symbols on the shirt, along with the saxophone. Again I used to blend modes to settle them into the shirt. I added various levels layers and color layers and other layer adjustments to make the image pop as well as I could. But after all that work, the image still didn't have the impact I was looking for.
I tried a few other adjustment layers and color layers but I just wasn't getting the right mood from the composite. As I was going through the layer adjustment list, my wonky hands accidentally clicked on inverse. Well, that was a serendipitous accident. It turns out that using the inverse layer adjustment gave me the jazzy pop that I was looking for. No one can ignore this shirt now! ;-)
Take care and stay well.
